A bunch more vacation pictures...

Keira continuously signing "cookie" and me wondering WHY in the world did I teach her that sign?

Keira's favorite part of the Children's Museum was carrying around this fake steak from the play grocery area. She wouldn't give it up and we had to pry it from her before leaving.

Vacation Success!

Our new family tradition is to all wear “vacation t-shirts.” They can be political, funny, obnoxious… anything goes when you are on vacation and no one knows you!! Here were our picks for this year. I also have to say that Omaha was a great destination for our first family vacation! Keira had an absolute blast and will probably be sleeping for the next 3-4 days! Quinn took everything in and enjoyed it as much as is possible for a 3 month old.

We spent most of the time chasing K all over the zoo!

More pictures to come when I've recovered from vacation adventures!

Q is 3 months!!!

At Q’s 3 month appointment today he of course was measured as a super giant wonder baby! The mighty Q! He’s getting closer to catching up with his sister! He rolls, kicks, punches, smiles, and FLIRTS! Here are his latest stats…

Length- 24.5 inches
Weight- a WHOPPING 14 pounds, 9 ounces

After toting a full car seat AND carrying K at the same time into the Dr’s office, I asked myself—WHY, OH WHY, am I still carrying K everywhere? Oh- maybe it’s because if I try to hold her hand she snatches it away and runs. SO – we have been practicing walking and holding hands around the yard. Ms. Independent has a very difficult time “going with mommy” and prefers to go her own way. BUT- this mommy is done with the bicep workout of carrying a combined total (with car seat) of 50 pounds in and out of everywhere we go!

Who's in charge here?

I can’t even believe it! Today- and most days, K nears the end of her meal and looks at me with a sort of wide-eyed, I’m going to test you now mommy, sort of look followed by her taking a large handful of what is left on her tray and wildly flinging it onto the floor. She then looks at me with the same “what are you going to do about it, Mommy?” sort of look. I- in my most firm tone—say “NO NO—that’s not okay” and receive a sly SMILE from her in reaction followed by more flinging and me taking the tray away.

SO tonight I dash out the door to Walmart right when L gets home because it is absolutely impossible to take two kids to Walmart—I can just imagine cramming Q’s car seat into the front and stuffing K in the back where she would proceed to throw everything out of the cart and grab many interesting extras to add to the cart…

Anyway- leaving L in charge, he does dinner with K. Here is his story… K grabs a handful of food and does her traditional flinging full force onto the floor. She looks at Daddy who replies “NO NO—that’s not okay” to her (sounds familiar) and this was her reaction. Slowly, oh so slowly, her lower lip comes out and she actually had to WORK hard to get her entire lip to stick out at its maximum—tears slowly form in her eyes—and then massive sympathy cries pour from her. From then on, she didn’t throw a single thing from her tray. Is this a prelude to things to come? Oh daddy’s girl….. let’s see how lunch goes with mommy tomorrow.

You take the good.... you take the bad...

Oh 16 months…. You came in like a lion! Will you be going out like a lamb??? Doubt it!! What happened to sweet little baby K? Toddler K has hit the stage!!! And she is ready to GO! And THROW! And HIT! And SCREAM! Here are some of the good, the bad, and the ugly accomplishments…

-K watches EVERYTHING I do—this makes me very aware of my every move! She knows how to turn the CD player in her room on and off and even choose a radio station. She also imitates my AWESOME dance moves—HA!! Quite the comedy! The other day, I was holding Q and used my toe to turn off her CD player, now she wants to turn it on and off using only her toes—SHE IS ALWAYS WATCHING!

-She learns one new sign almost every day—it’s incredible!!!

-We have introduced “the time-out crib”

-She forcefully throws food to express that she is either done eating or just angry at her meal?

-She is obsessed with watching the toilet flush and attempts to flush various household objects—I have been told that this was also a trend of her daddy! Inherited trait?

-She knows how to do puzzles now!

-She is OCD (maybe like her mommy??) with taking everything out of her toy baskets, meticulously stacking all of her toys on the end table, and then neatly putting each toy back in its place.

-She throws and throws and THROWS anything and everything with MUCH force!

On the Q update, he SMILES so much when he sees us and rolls! He’s still in the sweet, cute, quiet, cuddly stage—ahhhhhhh! I can’t imagine having TWO toddlers someday!

K in mommy's t-shirt!

Getting into everything!

Adios maternity clothes, hello naked!

After boxing up ALL of my maternity clothes and praying the whole time that I won’t have to get them out again EVER and that the plastic container will sit forever in the VERY back of the basement closet—(all I want for Christmas is to NOT be pregnant this year)- I realize that I have a total of FIVE (yes, FIVE) winter non-maternity shirts. Correction- actually only FOUR (one is maternity, but I think it can be pulled off as fashion). Between being pregnant for two years and in Texas for five, I’m a little low on Kansas winter wear! I’d better start stocking up!!! Why do I have ALL of this time to be cleaning out closets? K is staying overnight with grandma and grandpa W!!! Two nights, actually! I thought she would be at least a little sad to be away, but no! I called this morning to say hello to her and she says “mama” once and then my dad says “um… I think she’s more interested in her waffle right now, maybe you could call back later?” WOW!! Waffle over mommy!!! Q and I are having lots of time together—the house is clean and quiet- amazing!! I think we will be scheduling monthly grandparent stays!!

Oh- I think Q looks so cute today! Thanks for the outfit Aunt Misti!!! And doesn't he look SO BIG!!??
