What I Did On My Mommy Vacation...
This feels like one of those essays I made my kids write while I was a teacher on the day after holiday break. Let me just tell you those are teacher code for “I have no idea what I’m going to teach today, my brain is still on holiday, this will take up even more time if I have each kid share theirs, and even MORE time can be filled if I have them exchange and edit each other’s!”
So my dream came true…. Daddy and the kids went for the weekend to stay with the in-laws leaving me the house all to myself for the whole weekend!! Here’s what I did on my mommy vacation… (and not in essay form- minus 10 points for me)
1.Cleaned the entire house- all of it- places that I hadn’t even seen before- and it was all clean at the same time! That hasn’t happened in this house EVER! It was liberating!
2.Drank much tea, read two books, and took 3 naps. Ahhh…. So peaceful
3.Went to a girls night out, drank (gasp) THREE adult beverages and then went to Twilight- Edward is so yummy!!!
4.Slept ALL night and didn’t move until 9:00- then went back to sleep just because I could!
5.Walked and shopped the entire downtown- no toy store, no baby store, didn’t go to Target for fear of buying baby/kid stuff and/or running into screaming kids in carts-I actually window shopped, browsed, not rushed!
6.Caught an independent film at the theater downtown- so good!
7.Drank coffee at a coffee shop downtown with all of the interesting eclectic people that obviously do not have kids because they were discussing the arts, a film festival, their latest works… I felt I didn’t have much to contribute except that “hey- you should have seen the vibrant finger paint my daughter did the other day…. Genius!”
But I have a confession… I MISS MY KIDS!!! IT’S WAY TOO QUIET!!!! And I ABSOLUTELY LOVE BEING A MOMMY!!!! I love everything about it! I miss everything about it!!! Although these times are important, I missed Keira’s hug this morning, and I didn’t get to sing Quinn his good morning song, or share breakfast laughs, or see Quinn’s smile light up the room. And I’m counting the minutes until they return! Call me one crazy mama!!!

Just in case you need a reality check...
Not sure if I should laugh or cry at this.... most days it's a little of both! I completely needed this! Thanks Monica! I really got a good laugh- especially at #10!!!

Look who's famous...
Ahh- we've come so far... or have we?
The first picture is Keira in the beginning stages of eating at 6 months old. I used to think WHAT A MESS! Now we have utensils to help fling food, juice boxes to squeeze and spray, and plates to flip over- not to mention incredible toddler strength and excellent aim at mom and brother! Keira is “practicing” using a fork and spoon- too bad most of the food ends up NOT in her mouth!
